The Clean Energy Incubator and Austin Energy proudly announce sponsorship opportunities for the third annual Clean Energy Venture Summit: “Bringing the Smart Grid to Life”, scheduled for October 14-15, 2009 in Austin, Texas. The Summit provides clean energy technology companies and entrepreneurs a venue for presenting their innovations to venture capitalists, Angel investors, and strategic investors that currently invest in clean energy, along with experts from Austin Energy, corporate partners, other utility executives and government leaders.

This year’s theme “Bringing the Smart Grid to Life” directly relates to efforts from the Pecan Street Project. The Pecan Street Project (PSP) is Austin’s city-wide clean energy laboratory, the largest in the nation and the only place where researchers and entrepreneurs can come to develop, test and implement the Smart Grid.

A series of moderated panel discussions will focus on clean energy innovations in the key PSP focus areas, including: demand management, transportation and storage, energy efficiency, distributed generation and renewable energy. Daily keynote speakers will include leaders of industry who are innovating the smart grid arena. Meals and social mixers round out your opportunities to learn, influence, educate and associate with peers from around the country.

We expect over 500 participants, including early-stage clean technology company leaders and investors. We hope you will join our team and help sponsor this wonderful event.

Austin Energy
Austin Energy is the nation’s 9th largest public power electric utility with more than 400,000 customers and $1.2 billion in annual revenues. Austin Energy is a leader nationwide in the use and promotion of clean energy technologies. The National Renewable Energy Laboratory, for example, has ranked Austin Energy’s GreenChoice® program #1 in the nation for the last seven years in a row for the most sales by a utility-sponsored green power program. The Green Building program, started in 1991, was the first program of its kind in the country to rate buildings by the number of energy-efficient features that are incorporated into their design and construction. The Utility’s energy-efficiency programs are the most comprehensive in the nation and since 1982 have collectively offset the need to build an 850 megawatt power plant. Austin Energy also led the Plug-In Partners National Campaign to demonstrate to automakers that there is nationwide support by consumers for the manufacture of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles to lessen our dependence on foreign oil and reduce greenhouse gases. The Utility has joined with the Clean Energy Incubator to beta test clean energy technologies to support the development of clean energy companies in Central Texas that will benefit both our economy and environment.
